B.R.A.K.E.S. Ride

Good Evening Everyone,

We would like to thank everyone that came out to ride today and on April 20th 2008!! As you probably already know we rode for B.R.A.K.E.S on April 20th 2008 but due to the low attendance caused by all the rain in the area that day; we re-rode today. Mother Nature smiled her golden sunshine on us today!

We would like to say “Thank You!!!” for your donation to the B.R.A.K.E.S foundation. As you may or may not know B.R.A.K.E.S. is a non-profit organization founded by Doug Herbert and teenagers after the tragic accident that took the life of his two sons. On January 26, 2008, Doug Herbert experienced every parent’s worst nightmare: his two sons, Jon, 17, and James, 12, lost their lives in a tragic automobile accident. Trying to make some sense of this horrible tragedy, Doug has made it his mission to help prevent other parents, friends and families from enduring the pain he has been going through. This desire to help prevent further tragedy spurred Doug into action. After partnering with Jon’s classmates from Southlake Christian Academy, B.R.A.K.E.S. – Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe – was born. B.R.A.K.E.S. Mission Statement is: To save lives and raise awareness of young drivers. Let’s help save lives – Put on the B.R.A.K.E.S. All of the sign-up fees from today’s Ride will be donated to help support the foundation.

It was a beautiful day for a ride; sunny with just a mild breeze blowing. We started a Morgan’s Dairy Bar & Calf-A in Lincolnton at 1:30, with the first stop being Bandy’s High School; the home of the Trojan’s in Catawba. It was followed by Rock Springs Elementary School in Denver. Next stop was Highland Park in Boger City for a pit-stop. After a brief break we were once again on the road to Asbury School. Once again off to Kiser Elementary School in Stanley. The fifth stop on today’s ride was East Lincoln High School, the home of the Mustangs in Denver. The final stop was Southlake Christian Academy, in Huntersville; the School where B.R.A.K.E.S. was named. As you can tell, we spelled B.R.A.K.E.S with the schools we visited. We all had a Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe, fun ride with a lot of laughs for a good cause.

At Southlake Academy we awards door prizes. After the ride we went to Sports Page Food & Spirits in Denver for dinner. Anyone who wished to join us was welcome. It was 39 cent wings today!

We would also like to thank B.R.A.K.E.S foundation, Parts Unlimited, and Tucker Rocky for donating the door prizes.

We are planning a “FUN” ride to Maggie Valley, North Carolina for Memorial Weekend. Please check out our home page for details. We will leave Sunday May 25th 2008 and come home Monday May 26th 2008. We will visit “Wheels Through Time”, the Museum that Runs!

We hope that everyone will be able to go with us!!! Be sure to bring a friend or four!

Until next time,
LCC

Note: A “FUN” ride means we are not asking for a sign-up fee since it is not for an organization. Each rider will be responsible for any and all expenses. Example: lodging, fuel, admissions, etc.
