A Busy Spring and Summer!

Hey Everyone,

We have had a busy time this Spring and Summer! I'll try to catch up on all that we have done.

We had a beautiful day April 25th for the our 2nd Annual Scavenge Hunt all proceeds went to Hospice & Palliative Care. We raised $435.00. Thanks to everyone that cam out!

May 2nd we had two Lady Riders win in the Chicks Rule Bike Show at Davis Harley Davidson in Burlington. Tina won the Metric Class and Linda won the Best in Show. Way to go Ladies!

Best In Show!!

On May 21st, one of our members was hit by a SUV as he turned into his driveway. Your know it still amazes me how you can be driving down the road and NOT SEE a RED motorcycle with his RED brake light and yellow turn signal on. Thank goodness!! Raymond was not hurt more seriously. However the bike took most of the damage and Raymond took the pain.

AFTER HIT BY SUV

Raymond and Tina still managed to make it to the Farm House for Memorial Weekend. We had a good trip even if it did rain on us several times that weekend. But we take it in stride.

It took several weeks to rebuild the bike and even longer for Raymond to heal. But out of a bad situation there was the birth of REVENGE!

Re-Birth of Revenge!!

We had Beat the bike at Hog Happening on June 5th & 6th.

In July, Gary and Linda both won in the weekly bike shows. However, they were unable to attend the final competition due to inclement weather, the show was re-scheduled. I personally think they would have won!

The first weekend in August we went to Skyline Village Inn. We rode the Murder Mountain Loop and went through Little Switzerland. If you are interested in a scenic curvy weekend road trip try that ride it's a fun time.

We all met for a PJ Breakfast ride on August 16th. Yes, PJ is Pajama's. Everyone wore their PJ"S to Shoney's in Hickory for the breakfast buffet. Linda and her Pink Flamingo's won the PJ contest. I hope we do it again next year it was so much fun.

Labor day weekend we rented the Mahogany Rock Roost in Sparta. We again had a great time; even though Mike's bike had a flat tire. Tina gave up her bike to ride with Raymond. Don loaned his bike Mike and Maria while he rode Tina's bike. Gary got up early Monday drove home. He loaded his bike on the trailer and brought it back to the house to let Mike use his truck and trailer to get his bike and trailer home.
Thanks to the Most Wonderful Friends in the World it was a great trip. We rode to Nancy's Candy Company for our sweets the stopped in Fancy Gap at the Gap Deli for lunch.

This past weekend we went camping at Riders Roost again it was a great trip. They were having the Military Veterans Rally. If you like camping this is a good place to go. They have great facilities. The new owners {David and Pam} are great. I can't wait to go back!

This is some of the bigger rides. Not to mention the spur of the moment rides to get ice cream, rides to Blowing Rock for lunch, or many other spontaneous adventures.

Don't forget that we have the 2nd Annual Scrabble Run on Sunday October 4th. Bring a friend or more. As always, we don't care what you ride, just as long as you ride!

I'm sure we will be having more fun times in the future. Keep a check on the web or contact us for more rides.

Spur of the moment Trip

A few of us got together this past Sunday for a short ride, since it was a beautiful sunny day. We met up at Morgan's parking lot at 11:00am. Then headed toward Kings Mountain. We stopped at the State Park and visited the historical center. While sitting outside, someone mentioned Strawberry Hill was just down the road. We all agreed it was a beautiful day for riding so why not. Lets go check it out. After asking directions(just to make sure we didn't get lost), we were off and going again. Unfortunately, Strawberry Hill was closed when we arrived. Even though their website says they are open seven days a week 8am to 8pm; so we'll have to go back another day. Someone asked a local couple who were there for a good place to eat close by. They directed us to Bantam Chef. This is a 50's style restaurant. It was like stepping back in time; all the old memorabilia that was all over the walls and on display. The Studebaker that was restored and sitting inside the restaurant was great too. As for the food, I will definitely take another road trip to try another item on their menu. I had the small bacon-cheeseburger (I could not have eaten the large), onion rings, and a tea; it was delicious. The price was unbelievably cheap. Once our bellies were full it was time to roll on. We headed back home via the scenic route up highway 18 into Shelby. Our little Sunday ride was about 150 miles, give or take a few, round trip. I can't wait until we can go again.

Oh, that reminds me if you don't have plans Easter week-end, we are going camping. We are traveling to Willville Motorcycle Camp Ground that weekend. This is strictly motorcycles, no cars. Check out their website and your calenders, if you are interested please contact us for more information.

Sunday Feb 8th

This past Sunday was a beautiful day, as you know. We took off in search of a new camp ground. We were looking for High Country Motorcycle Campground. In my opinion, this is a nice place to camp. It is 14 acres of North Carolina mountains, so there is plenty of room to pitch your tent beside the creek. And for those who do not like tent camping they also have a bunkhouse that sleeps twelve, remember to bring your ear plugs just in case your room mates snore. Or you may be able to rent the cabin if it's not already booked. High Country has a bath house with washer and dryer. They have a pavilion that can seat 200. I can't wait until they open in mid-April.

After checking out the facilities, we decided to eat at Applebee's in Lenoir. After a good meal it was time to head home.

We rode about 180 miles round trip. It was a great relaxing ride through the back roads. I look forward to many more rides this year.

See ya at HorseFeathers on the 21st,

Welcome 2009!

Good evening everyone!

I hope everyone is as excited about riding this year as we are. We are planning rides and other festivities for the new year. While still in the planning stages, if you would like to have your input included (as we listen to any and all ideas) please be sure to attend the meeting on February 21, 2009 at 2:00pm Horsefeathers Roadhouse. This is the only mandatory meeting for members of the year. As usual, everyone is welcome to attend all meetings!

Hopefully we can plan weekend trips along with our charity rides. If we're lucky maybe even a overnight trip. I am looking forward to traveling again to the North Carolina Outer Banks. I can't wait until it warms up a little so we can go camping again. And of course, I'm already excited about the Second Annual Scavenger Hunt Charity Ride for Hospice.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Vice-President
